Medical Support

If you have experienced a sexual assault or another form of sexual violence, it is important to get care as soon as possible. Even if you feel okay, you may be injured or at risk of contracting a sexually transmitted infection or becoming pregnant. If you were sexually assaulted within the past five days, you should consider having an evidence collection exam at Yale New Haven Hospital. The Sexual Harassment and Assault Response & Education Center (SHARE) can coordinate with the hospital emergency room and the police to make arrangements, and can guide you through this process. The evidence collection exam can be completed anonymously and the cost is covered by the state of Connecticut. Having an evidence collection exam does not mean that any legal action will be taken.
